(San Luis Obispo, CA.) SLO Talk announces the launch of a newodcast production studio that features live weekly programming celebrating the culture, commerce, and community of the California Central Coast. Local business leaders, entrepreneurs, industry experts, and community organizations can host their own podcasts covering a broad range of topics including food and wine, the arts, business and finance, health and wellness, psychology, sex, politics and more.

SLO Talk will be distributing the shows globally to podcast directories like iTunes, Google Play and Stitcher providing 24/7 on-demand access.

Leading the lineup is “Renaissance Rap — The New Land of the Giants”, created and hosted by Gary Conway, local natural winemaker, world renown television and film actor, artist and writer. Gary is perhaps best known for his starring role in the iconic network television series, “Land of the Giants”. The program draws its topics, inspiration, strength, and sense of purpose from community – artists, writers, musicians, winemakers, farmers, chefs, and cowboys – the individuals, merchants and small businesses that represent the foundation upon which societies are built around the world. Renaissance Rap features select in-studio guests, live call-ins from around the world, and even boasts occasional appearances by Hollywood celebrities.

James Davis, an engaged local community leader who actively supports and promotes nonprofits, businesses, community causes and events, will host “SLO Good Life”, which shines the spotlight on the unique individuals, stories, lifestyles, activities and events abundant in the SLO County region. Also in development is “Vintner’s Vision”, an interview-format show hosted by Jennifer Golden, a longtime advocate of the Support Local Movement. The program centers on the history of winemaking in the region, with the area’s founding winemakers sharing their memories and stories of San Luis Obispo County’s evolution as one of the most revered and world-class regions for wine production.

Celebrated television and film actor, artist, writer and leading natural wine maker, Gary Conway who starred in the feature films, I Was A Teenage Frankenstein, How to Make a Monster and in TV’s iconic Land of the Giants and Burke’s Law has signed with SLO Talk and will be broadcasting his show, “Renaissance Rap – In The New Land of the Giants” with co-host Sammy Papert, sales dude, researcher, dot-connector, wine maker, high-road-taker and find the best of a situation fellow.

“Our programming on SLO Talk will always be fun, says Conway. But we’ll be out there on every limb making the most vital social and cultural points let alone awareness about our health and wellness for each one of us and especially this society that often seems lost (and definitely wandering in the Land of the Giants).”

Great art, like Van Gogh’s paintings, beloved everywhere in the world, painted, in effect, his backyard and down the street. Great Wine always starts local and at a specific vineyard (not corporatized and industrialized). The two hundred most expensive and renowned wines in the world start local.

Great music, like Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, was about his immediate environment and the seasons experienced locally. Greatness starts local.

And Food? My gosh, who would travel anywhere and not zero in on the local chef and restaurant and especially the local foods — whether Paso Robles or Beijing.

In a TV or Radio program how significant it would be to all of our world cultures to start local, inherent, and be faithful to those essentials. People everywhere will respect that instinct, and will find it meaningful and always interesting; and if the programming values are universal and pertinent to all of us and our humanity, every society will find it relevant.”

“Greatness starts local.” – Gary Conway

Gary has become a strong, passionate voice for environmental awareness (and action!), educating the wine consuming public to the new and startling science revealing the threat of most all factory and GMO wines, the evil twins born from our mass-produced chemicalized food behemoths.

He likens this current challenge to his days starring in the world’s number one television show Land of the Giants. “Today, I am fighting for and with the little people, most all of us, against the food and wine industry giants,” Conway emphasizes.

As in Land of the Giants my warning can save lives, even the life of the person reading this.

Whether you’re totally new to the world of Internet radio, or you’ve been listening on your computer for years, getting SLO Talk Radio on your car radio is surprisingly easy. In fact, some cars now come with this functionality already installed.

However, if your car lacks expensive stereos and integrated systems there is no need to worry as there are FM transmitters you can use that are very budget friendly. FM Transmitters plug directly into your cigarette lighter. You then tether your phone or tablet into the transmitters 3.5mm auxiliary input or via Bluetooth. Set your car radio to an unused FM station and match that frequency on your FM transmitter and voîla! You’ll be listening to SLO Talk Radio through your cars stereo system!

How Much Data Will I Use
By Listening to SLO Talk Radio In My Car?
Since listening to SLO Talk Radio on your car radio requires a phone with a data connection, mobile data will be consumed while tuning into our Internet-based radio station. However, the amount of data used is very lightweight, to the point where listening to one hour of SLO Talk Radio would only eat through about 28.8 MB of data. At that rate, you could listen to more than an hour each day all month before cracking a 1 GB data plan.

If mobile data use is a big concern, some carriers offer data plans where content streamed from certain providers doesn’t count against your limit. So if your provider offers a plan like that, or you’re willing to switch, you can listen to as much in your car as you like without worrying about going over your data limit.

What are you waiting for? Pick up an FM Transmitter and take SLO Talk Radio on the road!
